Make Your Own Software – Review

Most online marketers today will agree that it’s all very well selling other peoples’ information products as an affiliate, but things really start to happen when you are the vendor and an army of affiliates start selling your product.

Most people immediately think of ebooks, videos and audio files when it comes to creating their own information product, but software is not out of the question, even if you are not a programmer.

The software market is huge – especially software that performs tasks that are usually time-consuming or tedious, or provide a means of doing something that would require some kind of training to do yourself.

Let’s say, for example, that you are selling something online. You can write sales copy, but you have no idea how to turn into a web-site. Software that takes your sales copy and creates the website for you would solve your problem.

This type of software is generally known as “fill-in-the-blanks” software. It basically prompts the user for various pieces of information that it inserts in the blank sections of a pre-defined template.

Make Your Own Software, or MYOS as it is generally known, will let you create software of this type without having to know the first thing about programming.
MYOS itself could be considered as “fill-in-the-blanks” as it prompts you for a template and various characteristics of your program. It then generates a fully-functional Windows application.

When you start MYOS, it asks you how your want your program to look – whether it has a wizard-interface or a single form, a style sheet for the application’s appearance, and its dimensions.

The guts of the application that you create is based on the template that you load into MYOS. The template (or “recipe” as they call it) is simply a text file containing the output that you want your application to create. Where you want you user’s text to appear in the output, you insert a named Tag which is enclosed in {@ and @}. For example, if your application generated an HTML sales page, you might insert a Tag such as {@PageTitle@}.

MYOS scans your recipe for such tags and then asks you what question or prompt should be displayed by your application when it is asking your users to supply the text to insert in their place.

After MYOS has collected all the information it needs for all the Tags within your recipe, it is ready to create a complete, standalone Windows program that generates text that combines your recipe with the user’s input.

The resulting programs can then be sold, or given away as you please with need to pay any kind of royalties. The profit you make from selling your programs is 100% yours.

MYOS is supplied with a number of sample recipes to get you started. Obviously, all MYOS owners get those same starter recipes, so you are unlikely to make any money from using them as they are, but they do demonstrate various features of MYOS quite well, and may give you some ideas for your own recipes.

There is no real limit to what you can do with MYOS as long as the output is in text format and can have sections replaced by Tags for user input. The output could be HTML, PHP, Javascript, contracts, last will and testament, business letters etc. If you can find a need for a fill-in-the-blanks document generator, then you can probably create it with MYOS.

Using MYOS, I created a sales page generator in about 30 minutes. As a professional programmer, I can tell you that if I wrote the same sales page generator program from scratch, it would take me several days. You don’t need to know anything about programming to use MYOS and it will create an application quicker than a programmer could!

You can get Make Your Own Software for a one-time payment of $197. There are no further monthly fees, licencing or royalty payments to be made, so once you have your copy, you can churn out as many applications as you want and sell as many copies of them as you want. Even if you created just one application and sold it for $10, you’d only need to sell 20 copies to make back your investment.

If you’re interested in getting into the lucrative software market, check out Make Your Own Software. I found the MYOS sales page slightly quirky – they make you jump through a few hoops before you can buy the product, but don’t let that put you off. Simply answer all the questions and check all the boxes and you’ll get through it.
