Affiliate Marketing – 6 Things To Beware

When it comes to making money online, Affiliate Marketing is one of the most exciting business opportunities you could get into. There are not many ways in which you can actually start a business of your own without investing any serious money. It sounds too good to be true, so maybe we’d better take a closer look.

Affiliate programs are free to join, but you still need to approach the idea of Affiliate Marketing with caution as it is not as simple as it sounds. It has been well publicised that over 95% of beginning online marketers fail to make any money, or even make a loss, so let’s examine the factors in Affiliate Marketing that may contribute to your success or failure.

Demand
It stands to reason that it is much easier to make money with affiliate programs when you are selling products for which there is a demand. [Read more...]

Time To Turn The Tables

If you build up several income streams, each turning in a decent amount of money, your lifestyle will improve and you will want to earn even more money. That’s human nature. So where do we go from there? Of course we could spend our time setting up even more income streams as before, but the more you set up, the more maintenance they will need, and the more of your time they will consume.

So the next step is to move over from being an affiliate to being a vendor. Basically get your own products together and have other affiliates selling them for you. This is the real key to making money online. Think about it – as an affiliate, you are forever seeking new buyers and sending them to the vendor’s site. The vendor makes the sale and if he’s doing it right, [Read more...]

Don’t Get Stuck in a Niche

If you’ve been following this series, you will have got a system working and earning you money. You will have scaled it up to increase the revenue, and you should be feeling fairly comfortable.

So what do you do next? Well there’s one good thing about being in that comfortable position where you have money coming in with only a little maintenance work to keep it ticking over. Although you shouldn’t take your eyes off the ball for too long, you now have a little more freedom to look around for other income streams.

Don’t wait until your first income stream starts to dry up; you need to get the next one up and running long before that happens.

So look around for a completely different niche. You can apply the same techniques that you used for the first one, and duplicate what you already have in place. [Read more...]

Scale Up your Affiliate Campaigns

If you have an affiliate campaign up and running, the next step is to scale them up. That’s the only way you’re going to move up from earning a few hundred dollars per month to earning thousands per month.

Strange as it may seem, getting that first $1000 per month is actually a lot more difficult than getting $10,000 per month. The reason is that it takes time and effort to establish a working technique that will bring in that first $1000 per month. Once you have that cracked, all you need to do is scale it up.

It’s all about increasing the amount of traffic that you get to your site. Assuming that you have tried several different methods of getting traffic, you should have some idea of which ones are the most effective for you. Don’t get rid of the least effective ones unless they [Read more...]

Test and Track your Affiliate Campaigns

If you’re going to make the transition from affiliate to super-affiliate, you need to know exactly how your campaigns are performing. To this end, testing and tracking is of utmost importance. You need to test everything – banners, ad copy, styles of your landing page, colours, ad positioning, email content etc.

Test your autoresponder messages BEFORE they get sent out to your list. I’ve lost count of the times that I’ve received emails that begin “Dear {firstname_fix}” because the marketer has mis-typed the special name tag, or because the mistake was in the original message published by the vendor and the marketers failed to test it.

Read and re-read your reviews as if you were a prospective buyer trying to decide whether the product is for them or not. A good review is like a recommendation. Would you buy the product based on your recommendation?

Consider split-testing. [Read more...]

Launch Your Affiliate Marketing Campaign

If you’ve been following the previous parts of this course, you’ll be ready to launch your promotional campaign. The reason why around 95% of beginning affiliate marketers fail is that by the time they get this far, they give up. So if you want to be amongst the 5% who are successful, keep at it. What a pity to have come this far and done all the work, and not see it through to the end.

If you want to become a super-affiliate, then you need to be able to launch a campaign pretty quickly. When a new, hot product comes out that can be promoted and sold by affiliates, you better believe that there will be affiliates out there who can create a campaign and launch it within hours or even minutes of the release date.

If you can establish a formula for what you need to [Read more...]

Traffic Sources

With the exception of marketing to lists (you ARE doing that, aren’t you?), whatever method you use to promote affiliate products, you will need traffic.

If you promote products through a website (eg reviews, articles), or ads on your website then it’s a lot easier to set up ways to direct traffic to your site. If your promotional methods include AdWords or similar systems, then it becomes a lot more difficult as it is not easy to determine where your ads will show up.

Getting traffic to your website is not as difficult as many people will lead you to believe. If your site is a blog, its traffic level will pick up if you post often as the blog directories are pinged each time you post.

Other ways of getting traffic include:
Article Marketing: Add links and a call to action in the resource box of articles published on article directories [Read more...]

Design Your Affiliate Sales Process

There is one thing that should always be in your marketing strategy, whatever you are doing, and that is Building a List.

As an affiliate, the easiest way to make sales by far is to send your promotional material to a list of interested people. As long as you promote good quality, useful products, there will always be a certain percentage of list members who will ultimately buy the products you promote.

So list building should be an integral part of your sales process.

Any site that you create that is related to your niche should contain some means of list-building. That is with the exception of actual sales pages, of course. Perhaps you plan to run a blog containing product reviews etc. Add an opt-in form so that people can subscribe to your blog posts and other information that you care to send them. You might need [Read more...]
