Find Affiliates in Your Niche

Continuing from my previous post about using tried and trusted techniques to get your affiliate marketing career going, I am now going to cover how to spy on the competition and “borrow” their techniques.

First of all, it is worth investing in a notebook in which you can scribble down notes, URLs etc as you go. Or if you prefer, open a text editor on your PC (eg Notepad) and use that to take notes, copy text etc. If you don’t do this, you won’t be able to go back and visit useful sites again in the future. They will be in your browser history list, but they will be scattered amongst less useful site that you visited along the way.

First of all, search for items that feature highly in your niche and look at the results pages. There will be ads on the results pages for [Read more...]

Get Your Affiliate Marketing Career Moving

Most people start with affiliate marketing because it’s easy to start up, can be done for very low initial outlay, it can be quick to produce a return, and it can be very profitable. However, still over 95% of affiliate marketers fail to make any money online. So why is this? The main reason is that they don’t use the tried and trusted methods that are actually taught by numerous marketers. Instead they try to reinvent the wheel.

Any business is easier to get started if you have some money to make an investment in it, but affiliate marketing can be done on a shoestring budget. Money that you make from your initial attempts can then be used to finance better promotion, outsourcing, software tools etc.

If you want to become a super affiliate you need to knuckle down and get to work. As time goes by, [Read more...]

Clickbank Trademark Use Guidelines

Any product that contains a reference to Clickbank must contain a disclaimer to the effect that there is no connection between the vendor and Clickbank, and that the product is not approved or endorsed by Clickbank.

Over the years I have seen numerous ebooks containing a suitable disclaimer that states that Clickbank is a registered trademark of Keynetics Inc.

At the time of creation of the products, this was part of the disclaimer supplied by Clickbank.

Having read the updated Product Promotional Guidelines on the Clickbank site, I see that this has now changed and the standard disclaimer that they provide has replaced “Keynetics” with “Click Sales”.

So if you are currently writing an ebook or other product that mentions Clickbank, you might want to check that you have included the latest disclaimer as supplied by Clickbank, the wording of which is…

CLICKBANK® is a registered trademark of Click Sales, Inc. and used by permission. [Read more...]

Make Your Own Software – Review

Most online marketers today will agree that it’s all very well selling other peoples’ information products as an affiliate, but things really start to happen when you are the vendor and an army of affiliates start selling your product.

Most people immediately think of ebooks, videos and audio files when it comes to creating their own information product, but software is not out of the question, even if you are not a programmer.

The software market is huge – especially software that performs tasks that are usually time-consuming or tedious, or provide a means of doing something that would require some kind of training to do yourself.

Let’s say, for example, that you are selling something online. You can write sales copy, but you have no idea how to turn into a web-site. Software that takes your sales copy and creates the website for you would solve your problem.

This type of [Read more...]

How To Get It Wrong – Pt. 3 – Affiliate Programs

Either there’s a lot of total incompetence in today’s Online Marketing world, or I’m being too picky, or maybe as I work more in the field, I come across more examples of it.

Today’s rant is about affiliate programs. There’s nothing wrong with them, and the companies that specialise in it, such as Clickbank and Click2Sell do an excellent job.

It’s when marketers decide that they don’t want to pay commissions to these companies any more and go off and do their own thing that it can all go wrong.

If you run an affiliate program, of course you want to encourage your affiliates to make as many sales as possible, and those experienced affiliates can generally make a good number of sales from mailing to their lists. But what about the guys who are just beginning? They don’t have a list yet, or if they do, it’s either small [Read more...]

How To Get It Wrong – Part 2

Continuing my rant about how NOT to do Online Marketing, this time I cover thinking about the user of your product.

The more time I spend involved in Online marketing, the more I see silly mistakes being made by other marketers. it appears to me that some people are in such a hurry to get their product out there and making money that they don’t stop to think about it from the buyer’s side of the fence.

Don’t forget that you are relying on your customers to earn that money. if you do something to annoy them, they will unsubscribe from your lists and they won’t buy from you again. Worse still, they could give your product a bad review and publish it online.

The thing that sparked off this post is an ebook that I was reading today. It contains some very valuable information about Affiliate Marketing, and [Read more...]

How To Get it All Wrong

You’re building a list, right? Even if you’re an affiliate marketer, you’re building a list? No? You should be. It’s by far the easiest way to make more affiliate commissions. In a list, you have a whole bunch of buyers and/or prospects that are sitting there as a captive audience to your emails. True that not everyone will even open your emails, let alone click a link inside them and buy the suggested product. True that some list members will unsubscribe.

But if people have bought from you before, and you keep up a good relationship with them, there is a good chance that they will buy from you again.

The key to it is the phrase “keep up a good relationship”. This is something you really have to work at. You need to give your list members something that will keep them [Read more...]
